Admission to Wingra School

Wingra's admission process is designed so that the school, parents, and student applicant become well enough acquainted to decide whether Wingra is an appropriate environment for the child. Mary Campbell, our Education Director, is available to give tours, answer questions, and help families with the admissions process. Open houses

The entire family is welcome to explore our school, enjoy refreshments, participate in hands-on activities, and meet our teachers and staff. We typically have two open houses each year, one in January and one in February. Both have passed for the coming 2010-2011 school year, so don't hesitate to contact us for a personal tour, if you've missed them. Our 2011 open house dates are not yet set.

Classroom observation

Parents of prospective students may observe in classrooms.  Because we have so many visitors, however, we limit observations to those who already have preliminary knowledge about our philosophy and program. Classroom observations may be scheduled by calling Wingra's Administrative Secretary, Elizabeth Garcia, at (608) 238-2525. On arriving, parents first go to the school office, Room 104A on the first floor, where we can greet you and get your visit started.

Classroom visits by prospective students aged seven and older can be arranged, following application, as part of the admissions process.  Pre-application visits may be made by students to the four oldest classrooms (9 to 13 year olds) and should be scheduled with the administrative secretary.  Generally we ask that parents observe first and then arrange follow-up visits for their children.
